I've only just got bought "Bright Grey" by The Steal (despite it being released in the latter part of last year), and I've been enjoying it immensely. This UK hardcore punk outfit recorded this album during 2 days in the rainy Devon countryside.
I managed to get my mitts on the 12" vinyl LP, which I'd thoroughly recommend tracking down for its beautiful artwork, and rather special clear vinyl with, what looks like, trapped smoke inside. It's limited to 300 copies, so get one while you can.
I forgot how good hardcore could be.

Police Pledge
I saw one of these series of new Police ads at a bus stop poster the other day.
REALLY lovely graphic design work, and as I have a thing for turquoise at the moment I got excited to see such a richly coloured poster covering such a big space.
Goodbye lazy photoshop Police posters - hello awesome text-based re-design!
They make me so happy!

New England Kit
My interest in football is minimal at the best of times, but my head was turned on Saturday night with the new England kit's first outing with their match against Slovakia.
So retro it hurts; and I quite like it! Opinions may change when I see a 20 stone man walk down the street this summer, sweating and shouting with a tomato ketchup stain down the front.
But for the moment - nice!

Dougal Wilson
Featured before, and will no doubt be featured again.
I just came across one of Dougal's very first music videos.
I think it's quite cute.
Enjoy!

Times They Are A-Changing
As you may have just noticed today, the banner across the top of the blog has changed colour, and a new, intriguing image of a wolfman has appeared in the top right-hand corner of this blog.
All will be revealed in the very near future, as David Wilson Creative is gearing up to reveal a new piece of work! Oooooh.
Stay tuned for more little teasers over the next week.

Flickermode 2.0
Really beautiful motion graphic work from Sebastian Lange. Despite the overkill of moving typography we had a few years ago, it's movies like this that remind me how much potential moving type has.
Beautifully executed.

I love listening to people talk about how they work. It's especially great when you love their work.
Mmmm... symmetry.

Holly White
I really love fine artist Holly White's text-based paintings. I find her inspirational messages a joy to have around.
Writing about Sally Hancox's work yesterday reminded my of Holly's work, as Sally has the central painting in this photo hanging in her house.
Unfortunately Holly doesn't have a website, so this is the only image you'll see for now.
Cummon' Holly! Sort it out!!

Stage Lighting
I'm really liking stage lighting at concerts at the moment. In recent years they seem to have made a mammoth jump into the majority of gigs having super amazing lighting (not just a few big gigs).
Here's a pic of the White Lies' stage lighting taken by Danny North.

Wrong
Christ, this is a bit good!
It's the new music promo offering from Patrick Daughters for Depeche Mode's new single "Wrong".
It's really exciting to see Daughters nailing the storytelling in this one so perfectly. He's become known for pulling off some fantastic choreography (such as Feist's defining "!-2-3-4" video), so it's great to see him pushing his work even further with this one.
He's created a truly chilling video, slowly revealing the horrifying extent of the situation during the track. It really made an impact on me.

RIP Dynamite Boogaloo
After 17 years as one of the cornerstones of Brighton nightlife closed its doors for the final time on Saturday night. Dynamite Boogaloo was one of the craziest queer nights in the city, even I feel it got a little bit too big for its boots a few years ago; loosing a hell of a lot (if not all) of its edge when it moved out of The Joint and into Audio. In its heyday it provided the much needed antidote to the house/trance/ecstasy-crazed sweat pit that was the Brighton gay scene, and reminded you how much fun cabaret really is.
Its "stars" Boogaloo Stu, Dynamite Sal, Dolly Rocket, and Le Gateau Chocolat are still going strong, and will shine bright for years to come, but the big gay umbrella they used to gather under every Thursday night has finally folded.
To sing us out here's Le Gateau Chocolat singing "The Sound Of Music" at Tate Britain.

You're the Voice
I wasn't able to stop listening this song this weekend.
I thought I'd share the joy of the John Farnham hit.
Warning: the video's a bit crap until it hits the 2:27 mark, where it bursts into technicolour and then gives us a blast of the bagpipes.
